Oftentimes, people say that they do not like history because just do not do history. In this episode, we question the notion whether the doing of history is in fact optional. We will argue in this show that every human being is an historian. It is not possible, we shall argue,to not do history. What one looks at a social media feed or turns on the news, one is doing history. In order to comprehend the events of the present, one has to have a firm grasp of the past. Without a comprehension of the past, it is not possible to discern the causes, motives and factors which shape human action or the deeds institutions. In a word, history helps us understand the present. Join us this week as we discussed the centrality of history not only in the study of the Catholic heritage more fundamentally in everyday human experience.
